Technical comparison between gas injection systems and mechanical mixing systems – Ca ‘Foscari University of Venice

The “Ca’ Foscari University of Venice”,  a European excellence study review of anaerobic digestion systems carried out a technical comparison between gas injection and mechanical mixing systems.

Comparison between the two technologies clearly shows advantages of gas injection mixing systems.

They can be summarized as follows:

. no sedimentation due to the mixing by gas bubbling from the bottom

. high production of gas due to complete and uniform mixing and to a low temperature gradient in the sludge

. low power consumption (up to 50% energy saving): no friction between sludge and mechanical parts

. high reliability: no corrosion and no struvite

. easy and low cost maintenance: no parts in movement inside the sludge
